Girls’ Generation – Mr Taxi PV

Music video for Mr Taxi by Korean pop group Girls’ Generation. Released in April 2011, it’s their first original Japanese song.

The nine-member group is the most popular girl group in South Korea right now, with many fans across Asia too.

Mr Taxi was a commercial success in Japan. It’s the girls’ first Japanese single to sell 100,000 physical units in its first week of release.

Besides that, all the proceeds from the sales went to Red Cross Japan to help the victims of the Tohoku earthquake and tsunami.

Don’t know why but their agency released another MV a year later. The fans won’t mind though, the more the better haha.

Monster Hunter 4 N3DS trailer

Teaser for Monster Hunter 4, an upcoming video game by Capcom, exclusive on Nintendo 3DS. Release date TBD, probably late 2012 or in 2013.

Monster Hunter is a series of fantasy-themed action role-playing video games that started in 2004. The franchise is pretty popular in Japan, with about 15 million copies sold to date.

Worldwide sales are much lower though. One of the major reasons is because handheld consoles are mainly a Japanese thing. And the game is also infamous for having a high learning curve which is obviously not a global norm.

As usual for popular games, the franchise expanded into anime and manga too. AFAIK the branching doesn’t work out that well though.

Final Fantasy XIII-2 trailer

Teaser video for Final Fantasy XIII-2, a sequel to the Final Fantasy XIII.

Released in December 2009, Final Fantasy XIII is the 13th title in the main Final Fantasy series. The sequel will be available later this year.

The first Final Fantasy game came out in 1987. The franchise grows and becomes one of the world’s best selling video games.

It’s also a reminder that Japan is a powerhouse in game making. They used to dominate the industry but others have caught up over the years.

Sushi, tempura and tips on eating

A Japanese food video. It’s about sushi, tempura, and also some history of the Tokyo seafood markets and traditional dining culture.

BTW, unlike conveyor belt sushi, dining at one of those traditional restaurants can cost quite a bit. It’s not an everyday food for common people.
